Benji turning 4

How to start this without going completely off topic...as some of you probably already know I have a chorkie named King Benjamin (Benji for short). He has been in my life for about four years now! When I found him the vet said that he was about 6 months because of his teeth, so I counted back and found out that he was born in July. Now being the dog mom that I am I now celebrate his birthday on the fourth of July! hahaha! We ended up celebrating Benjis birthday the day after because we were gone in San Fran on the fourth. I wanted to make him a birthday pup cake but I really didn't want to buy all of the ingredients and then have to throw the rest away because I wouldn't be using it all in the short amount of time we were in San Jose. I ended up going to the store and buying a candle and wet pup food, I wanted to make him a little hat but they don't sell single paper here. I got an idea and colored in flashcards and taped them into little hats! BEST IDEA EVER!!!

Benji wasn't thrilled about the hat but I just had to take a picture of it! This pup I absolutely love and adore him! He deserves the best and he is the most spoiled dog I know!
His presents that he got were a bunch of wet food and a new stuffed toy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJI!

4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! We had a four day weekend, which I was so happy about! We did so much in San Francisco! We drove into San Francisco this time instead of taking the subway. Driving in San Fran is so different! In order to get around you have to get on a freeway to get on another freeway to get somewhere, but then again that is California for you! We went to see/ drive down Lomabard street which is a street that is called "the crooked street in the world" it was fun driving down it. Honestly I would hate to love in those houses that are on that street because everyone wants to see it and drive down it! Next time I want to get out and take a picture from the bottom, we really couldn't getr out because the cops that were telling traffic where to go rushed us, but next time I WILL GET OUT! Again these pictures were over the weekend span.
Car in front of us going down
On the ride down they have little gardens that are in between the road, and they were filled with hydrangeas! I love hydrangeas!!! They were huge too, and apparently they are everywhere up in Northern California!

Now going the other way haha

The Embarcadero lit up for the fourth
We were on our way back to where the fireworks were and it seriously felt like Las Vegas at night! It was so crazy and everyone in the city was heading down to the Embarcadero! I am so glad that we parked way out and rode our bikes down. It was easier that way!

So the firework show was kind of a bummer, the fog came in and well lets just say that it was the best fog firework show that I have ever seen! I wonder if San Jose was any better, at least there was no fog there when we were driving on the way back home! The fireworks show was off of pier 49 which is a pier that has all of the restaurants and carnival rides on, we didn't want to go there and lose each other so we went to the next one over. I am so glad that we went to the next one over because there was fewer people and we basically saw the same thing as the people at the pier that they were shot off of. What was funny was that at first we were all alone on one side of the pier and the fireworks went off and the people all the sudden started coming over where we were standing!
Yea the fireworks were pretty much cut in half because of the fog. Don't know if that is a normal thing on the fourth in San Fran but oah well.
The next day we went to Santa Cruz and went surfing! I was so excited and one of us actually caught a wave! After a while we decided to go to the Boardwalk and play around there. As you can see we had a lot of fun haha!

This is me on the pier and behind me is where we went surfing earlier in the day. It was a good day! Oah and underneath the pier there was a bunch of seals relaxing in the sun, it was so cool to see them so close!
Stanford University
We also went and saw Stanford University, lets just say...HOLY CRAP ITS HUGE!!! Stanford is so big that it has its own bus route! And the picture above was just the sidewalk! The bell tower below had its own block because it was so huge!
Bell tower at Stanford University...it puts SUUs bell tower to shame
This was the only four day weekend that I had with Tyler, I miss it already and wish that I had more four day weekends with him here. But at least he has the weekends off!

Chicago?!

So while we were trying to settle down in our San Jose apartment we had to quickly pack up again and get on the plane to Chicago. When the day came Tyler noticed that our plane which was our connecting flight to go to Chicago had been delayed. I told Tyler that the delaying of planes always happens to me, wherever I am going I am always stuck in the airport waiting for the plane to get fixed or to get on another plane that stops to where I am going. Come to find out this one was different! We were at home waiting, which was pretty nice for a change! After a while we decided to go to the airport because the person over the phone was not helping us at all! We showed up and they ended up putting us on a plane to Las Vegas for the night with all expense paid hotel, the only catch was that the flight to Chicago was at 5:00 AM! I was not too happy about that but in order for Tyler to get there for his competition that was the only option for us. So while the people were giving us our ticket to Las Vegas which seemed like forever because they were just talking about how their Vegas trip was and how we need to go gamble and party (we told them plenty of times that we were from Vegas and that we don't do that), we ended up only having about 30 min to get to the security and to get to our gate before the plane ends up leaving us. Yes the gate was the last number towards the end of the airport!! And yes we sprinted like we just robbed a bank to our get in our getaway car!
This was us at the gate after our mad sprint to the gate!
When we finally got to our seats, Tyler and I realized that this was our first flight together as a married couple! It only took us almost 3 years to get on a plane together but hey it was fun sitting next to someone you know instead of some stranger!
The flight to Las Vegas was so quick we ended up meeting up with Tyler's parents and they took us to dinner. It was so weird seeing them when we saw them the previous week saying goodbye and see them when we were coming back to Utah in a few months. It seriously felt like we just took a quick trip and came back to Vegas after our quick trip to San Jose. It was too funny and weird at the same time but it was great seeing them!
This was when we finally got in our seats, our first flight together!
I didn't take any pictures of us when we were flying to Chicago because well I was just so tired and Tyler and I had to sit separately which wasn't fun, but what was fun is that we got isle seating so Tyler and I were able to see each other and talk somewhat to each other. But towards the middle of the flight I got an idea and took out the Ipad. We have a few movies on it so I put down the tray and set up the movies, Tyler was a isle behind me so he was able to see the movie too. It was so early in the morning that the Lego movie was even funnier than normal! Its so funny trying to laugh silently and trying not to wake up anyone!

I thought that this sign was cute and so true!
So we finally arrived in Chicago! We didn't even know how to get out of the airport! We ended up asking\this sweet old lady at the information desk how to get into Chicago! Come to find out we had to catch a train that takes you into Chicago, which you had to go down a weird hallway which winds around to the middle of nowhere and then eventually you will get to the train. It was interesting when we went down the hallway because all the sudden there was humidity and that was exactly how Illinois is, just a lot of humidity everywhere, no point in curling your hair cause it will be straight in 2 seconds! I have to admit that trying to find which train to go on was very easy to figure out! Compared to San Jose, which is just a joke in itself! That's another topic though cause its just too frustrating! The people that were helping us were really nice though, I told Tyler that I'm sure that after we left the people were laughing at us because we didn't know what to do!
We finally got to our hotel which was really close to the train stop! We had a few minutes to unload everything and get dressed for Tyler's competition (I ended up taking a quick 20 min nap) but then we were on our way trying to figure out where his competition was but that wasn't bad because we ended up getting an Uber and they knew where everything was, which was sooo nice!
With a few hours of sleep we were waiting for Tyler to go in and take his competition test.
Tyler had to take this test and had to complete it in 60 min. After this picture was taken he had to go to a different area where they had to tell him the rules and what he needed to do to get into the computer, I could not help but feel so nervous for him! We were running on only 4 hours of sleep and he had to finish this big test and compete with other very smart people. After he was done he came and got me and I asked him how he did and he said that he did very good but wished that he knew who he was competing with so he can get an idea of who his competition was. We ended up going back to the hotel and off we went to see the attractions that Chicago had to offer! No we did not see everything in one day so these pictures were throughout the week that we were there.
We were on our way to Navy pier and saw this boat has a HELICOPTER in the back!!

This is Chicago from Navy pier, it was sooo pretty!
Navy pier was really fun! There was a lot of rides that you could go on and it was so fun even to just walk around on the pier. Which was what we did because we rode our bikes around and was pretty tired.
The bean!
I have always wanted to see The Bean! It is so fun to walk around and under it! I highly recommend going there! And I just had to take the typical tourist picture of us in The Bean!
Us in The Bean
I also wanted to get a picture of the Chicago theater. It was raining and it had to be a quick picture, It was fun walking around in the rain, there was no dry spot on us and we ended up buying these little umbrellas that kept us damp haha!
In front of Chicago theater!
This was our form of transportation around Chicago. You are able to rent bikes for a day and can go anywhere as long as there was a drop off station near by, which ended up basically being everywhere! It was nice not having to worry if anyone was going to take our bikes if we wanted to stop somewhere! The only part that freaked me out when we were riding our bikes was driving with traffic! We were not allowed on the sidewalk at all or else we would get a ticket, being considered a "car" was pretty freaky. And another thing that drove us nuts was the constant honking! And sometimes the honking was over nothing! Even I got honked at...for nothing...dumbest thing ever!!
Going through an alley
Another thing that I have wanted to do was to see Lake Michigan! Even though we didn't fully go into it, I just dipped my feet in it, it was kinda cold so yea I wasn't wanting to hop into it. It was nice to ride our bikes next to it though and see a little more of it.
Had to see Lake Michigan
Before the awards ceremony we found out that we had to pay for me just to even enter into the awards ceremony, so we planned on me dressing up and sneaking me into the ceremony. Sneaking me in was really too easy, there wasn't anyone checking for any tickets or anything! We ended up getting front seats to see everything! I was so glad that we were up front, and was able to get the pictures that I got! The room was HUGE and so many people were there from a lot of different states! We were seated by states that we represented, apparently Utah gets up front...I wasn't complaining! This was also before we found out that Tyler got first place and fourth place in the two things he competed for. I am so proud of him and we both basically balled our eyes out when we found out that there was a cash prize that came with placing!
At the awards ceremony!
This was us on Willis tower (a.k.a Sears Tower). The first time we tried to go in Sears Tower there was a huge line that wrapped around a few blocks and that line was a 2 hour wait just to get in another line to get to another elevator to get in another line to get the ticket! Yea I didn't want to wait that long just to get up on a tower. We then went to eat and went to see other places that did not have a huge line. This picture was taken on our last day in Chicago, a perfect way to finish off our last day in Chicago. And we only waited about an hour in the first line to get into the elevator, then to get in another line to buy a ticket to get in another line to get in an elevator to take you to the 103rd floor, it was fun to see all of Chicago. Then we had to wait in a line to get down from the 103rd floor, haha but other than the never ending lines, it was pretty fun!
Looking down on the city
After Sears Tower we ended up just taking a walk around again in the city, we went to Baskin Robbins to get some ice cream before we went to get our luggage to go to the airport. At the airport we were VERY VERY early so we ended up hanging out at the airport for a few hours before our flight was called. This time we were able to sit next to each other, the flight home was so pretty! We were able to see a lot of green and farms. Just being in the clouds and looking at how they form was so awesome to see!
Now looking back, I am so glad that we have this opportunity to go and fly to different places and enjoy the opportunity given to us! It was so much fun and I cannot wait for other trips that will be in the near future! I love traveling to different places with this guy! <3

Where have you been??

So I don't know where to start exactly but I guess I will start a few months back. Tyler was interviewed for Ernst and Young for an internship in San Jose. Fast forward a few months and he ended up getting the internship, and now we are here living in San Jose for the summer! We absolutely love it here! There is so much to do and you will never get tired of it! Our first few weeks here we went and saw the Golden Gate bridge, Ghirardelli Square, China Town, and the Embarcadero. All were a wonderful sight to see! We even had our first subway ride going into San Francisco including Benji!
Benji was not thrilled about the subway ride though!

China Town was pretty interesting

Ghirardelli Square, and by the way the dessert here was AMAZING!

It was freezing in JUNE and yes I am wearing a jacket!
There are tons of pictures that we took but I just can't load them all because that will just take way too long! San Jose is a different place than what we are used to but we are having a wonderful time and cannot wait for other opportunities to open for us!
